Participant Categories

Question:
Can a student do two small vocal ensembles, or can they just do one thing in each category?

Response:
The following is taken from the General Rules section on page 15 in the 2007 rulebook: "A church may have as many entries as it desires. All participants in a group presentation must register with the same church. A participant or group of participants may not enter the same category more than once."

Judging Criteria and Seven Video Project Theme

Question:
Where can I see the exact criteria by which Video Production entries are judged? The criteria were listed in the 2006 Rulebook, but not in the 2007 version.

RESPONSE:
The national office is redesigning their website, and this criteria will not be on there until the middle to end of January. You can request a pdf copy of the judging criteria (for ALL categories) for 2007 by email at ohiofafrules@yahoo.com.

Question:
In the Video Production category, I know that the theme of Sacrifice must be followed for the Theme Interpretation genre, but must it also be followed for the Seven Project 7 @ Night and Seven Project School Assembly genres?

Response:
The national theme of sacrifice does NOT have to be followed for the seven project night or school assembly category.

Christian Band Question

Can a group of students do a secular song for christian band but change the lyrics to christian ones?

RESPONSE:
There is nothing in the rule book that says you can't change the words to a song and perform it. However, you would need to make sure that you meet all the copyright requirements, you would also need to figure out how you would be able to submit your music with the changed lyrics to the judges. If both of these things are done in accordance with the rules everything should be fine.

Technical Difficulty

On the last page of your faf update you may have seen the note regarding the downloadable version of the 07 rulebook being available on the blog site as well as the OYM site. Unfortunately we are unable to post this on the blog site, so check the OYM site for this information. We are working hard to get it uploaded so you will have this resource available to you!
